Natural Resource District receives Urban Agriculture Conservation Grant

The Crook County Natural Resource District (CCNRD) recently received a $10,000 Urban Agriculture Conservation Planning Grant from the National Association of Conservation Districts.

The CCNRD is one of five Conservation Districts in the state of Wyoming to receive this funding. As one of a few Districts in the State that has no permanent source of funding, these grants are very important.

The grant will be utilized to develop urban agriculture outreach programs for those in Crook County. The CCNRD is interested in hearing from Crook County citizens on urban agricultural topics you are interested in learning about. Possible topics include container gardening, soil health, stormwater runoff and composting. You can give input by filling out this survey: http://www.ccnrd.org/community-needs-assessment-for-growing-sustainability-in-crook-county or by contacting the CCNRD directly.

Please reach out to the CCNRD if you would like to assist with program development.

The CCNRD will also be working with University of Wyoming Extension staff to utilize and further develop the Learning Lab at the Crook County Fairgrounds in Sundance, WY. This is an active demonstration area intended to be utilized for educational opportunities.

Funding will be used to develop other partnerships, assist in maintaining the Learning Lab and complete planter boxes for the geodome constructed in 2021 at the Learning Lab.
