Halloween Festivities
On Thursday, October 31, Simmons Elementary School students will be having Halloween activities and parties in their classrooms. Your child’s teacher will send home more specific information about their class activities. We want to share the timeframe for the day’s activities and important information about security procedures on October 31st.
As I have communicated in our weekly newsletters since September, only adults with Hatboro-Horsham School District volunteer credentials will be admitted to the school for the Halloween parties. All adult visitors must wear the photo i.d. issued with the volunteer credentials. In the interest of everyone’s safety, no exceptions will be made to this policy.
Timeline for Halloween Parties
2 p.m. Preschool Parade in the gym, followed by parties
2:15 p.m. Kindergarten and Grade 1 Parade in the gym, followed by parties
2:30 p.m. Grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 class parties
Preschool, kindergarten, and Grade 1 families will be admitted through the exterior gym door. Adults may view the parade from the bleachers in the gym. No adults will be permitted to enter the school building following the parade unless they have their volunteer clearances.
Grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 families will be admitted through the lobby entrance.
Room parents who are setting up for the party will be allowed to go to the classrooms 15 minutes prior to the start of the party. All other visitors will be allowed in at the start time listed above.
Parking
The parking lot gets very crowded on party days. Please allow extra time to park safely in a legal spot. No cars may park in the school driveways as that will block the entrances for school buses.
Costumes
Please remember that all costumes need to be appropriate for an elementary school setting. No face paint, hair dye or weapons should be brought to school as part of a costume. Thank you for helping us make this event fun and safe for everyone.

Once again, there will be an All-School event during the school day on Friday, October 18th. The Fall Into Fitness Run-Walk-A-Thon is a way to get all of our students moving because we know some cannot make the 5K event. Donations are encouraged and the students from each grade who raise the most money will receive a prize. Donation pages can be set up online through the Race Link and can be shared with friends and family. More information on setting up online fundraising pages online was sent home with students last week. All money raised from this event will be used to benefit our school!

Girls on the Run Volunteer Coaches Needed
Girls on the Run is an afterschool program for girls in grades 3, 4, and 5. The season runs from February through May, culminating in a 5K run. The practices are Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. We are seeing volunteer coaches for this year’s season. You don’t need to be a runner, simply interested in building self-esteem through cooperative lessons and running. If you or someone you know would be interested, please contact Brooke Coleman at brookecolemancrew@gmail.com
