This review is for the function team at Turners. I reached out in the fall to inquire about hosting the hubs milestone birthday at their location. In very quick time, Susanne replied with ample information to get us started. Throughout the months, weeks, days, leading up to the party, Susanne was so very helpful in answering ALL our questions! The day of we arrived a few before the start of the party and the room was set up beautifully. Jessie, our coordinator, for the evening was extremely helpful all evening long. She even helped me put together the centerpieces for the table. They lit the roaring gas fireplace, and it really added to the mood.
Passed appetizers were beautifully presented. We chose to serve caprese skewers, Fra diavlo meatballs, and lobster bisque grilled cheese shooters. All were really flavorful. For entrée options we chose the baked haddock and the grilled tenderloin. Everyone said it was really delicious! The meal proceeded with exceptional service from all. As for dessert, the apple blossom with vanilla ice cream hit the spot! They even put a candle in hubs!
There isn't one complaint or hiccup that I can think of. The cost was the best we had reviewed and when it came time to settle the bill at the end of the evening, there weren't any surprises! Per the hubs, if we ever needed a function space again, we would not hesitate to book Turner's!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Tricia,
Thank you so much for your detailed review of your event and also for the recognition of our great events team. We hope to host you and your family and friends for more celebrations going forward. Best always, Kathi Turner and the Turner's Salem TeamNov 21, 2022Previous reviewWent to dinner here on Saturday. We have been to their location in Melrose several times over the years. Since moving, we have been super excited to try this location.
The décor is much cozier here; from the dark woods to the roaring fireplace, it is classy and comforting at the same time. The lighting was perfect. We did not have reservations, but they sat us right away.
Food and Drink. We both started with apple cocktails, lil sweet for me but had a nice tart tang to help balance it out. Apps were the chowder and bacon-wrapped scallops. Both delicious! Hubs said the chowder was right up there with the best he had tasted. I loved it too; nice thick creamy soup. I would only suggest a touch more clams in there but overall, great! The scallops were cooked perfectly; the bacon was nice and crisp. The app's star was the honey soy dipping sauce; wow, I want to recreate that at home! Entrees, hubs got the shrimp scampi and said the shrimp were slightly overcooked but a tasty dish. I was feeling adventurous and opted to try the smoked haddock dish. This dish was so salty and smokey that, unfortunately, it was inedible for me. I rarely send anything back, but I couldn't eat it. Our server was amazing and helped me pick something else. He even apologized for not warning me about the dish. So now you, dear reviewer, have been warned! I ended up with the haddock piccata, perfectly cooked, great lemon and briny taste. And it was a huge portion!
Service: JP was so kind and generous for our evening. He stepped up when I wasn't happy with my dish, and I didn't wait too long for my meal. He was a great conversationalist too. When we come back, I will ask if he is working!!
Prices: I thought the prices were very reasonable for our dinner. - Dec 26, 2023
Old school greatness. They don't make 'em like this any more. Sitting at the little oyster bar is my favorite, as you get to watch the chaos of the kitchen. The place is always decked out for the holidays, which is charming AF.
Their chowder is not to be missed, and their lobster bisque is an excellent second fiddle. Potentially, the best thing on the menu might be their fried clams. In a region where the best clams in the world are sourced, and fist fights breakout over which clamshack is the best in the North Shore, the best might be from here.
Stick to the classics: chowder, linguine and clams, crab cakes, fried clams, lobster pie etc.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 55410Dec 9, 2023
We stopped in Turners for lunch while we were visiting Salem for the day and the seafood was fantastic! We started off with calamari and then shared orders of crab cakes and fish. I would highly recommend all. We felt the price was spot on for seafood in the New England area and for the amount we received.
Seating was tight because they were really busy, but that didn't deter from our experience and our server was friendly and attentive.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aurélie P.Uptown/Carrollton, New Orleans, LA1732Apr 14, 2024

Lyceum Hall, Pleasantly enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant in Salem. Very cool building and beautiful wood carving and large fireplace. The atmosphere and service was very good and attentive. Great place to stop in and do a walkabout Salem.

A great place to eat at in Salem if you want drinks and seafood. We came on a weekday before Halloween and we had no trouble getting seated right away.
Our waitress was lovely girl... she was sweet , helpful friendly and efficient.
Drinks were good. I love the seasonal ones. Had a Manhattan that had rim drenched in caramel and a pumpkin espresso martini was a hit with us.
Food - my friend had a the baked seafood medley which was delicious since I sampled it. I had the fish and chips- which was good but damn it I wish I had the medley too . lol
Would definitely come back when I'm in town againHelpful 6Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Feb 17, 2024
Rate 3.5 Walking around Salem and found this restaurant to try out. It was crowded but we didn't have to wait too long as we sat outside with no shade. I believe Chris was our server. He was truly nice and accommodating . We appreciate that. I was also excited about the great ratings on Yelp so I had high expectations. I don't know, the meals were cold when it arrived , especially the fries and the food was ok. Maybe I ordered something that wasn't their specialty.

Dear Eva,
We sincerely apologize your food did not arrive as hot as it should. We would have happily corrected that as we want all our guests to have great experiences. Please let us know if you will be in the area again soon as we would like to encourage you to try us again. kathi@turners-seafood.com. Kathi Turner - Feb 25, 2024
Some of the best seafood in Salem hands down!! We popped in for lunch on a friday afternoon and sat at the bar. The bartender was so fun and nice and helped us with our food and drink selections. We had a fish cake, and the buffalo fried scallops to start and they were fantastic, and so plump and juicy. I had a lobster roll for the main course and it absolutely did not disappoint. Ive never had a meal at Turner's that I didnt like!

Dear Taya,
Thank you for your review. As you may know, the Turner family has been in the wholesale NE seafood business for 4 generations and we have our own fish plant in Gloucester where we buy fresh off the boats daily, inspect, process and delivery daily to our restaurant. We like to say “Anything fresher still Swims”. We greatly appreciate your ongoing patronage and hope to serve you again soon. Cheers, Kathi Turner and the Turner’s Team - Feb 24, 2024
I was visiting a friend in Boston and they brought me to Turner's Seafood for dinner. It was excellent. One of the best crab cake sandwiches I have ever had. The servers were very nice and we were seated right away. It was a great evening.

Dear Rachel,
Thank you for your kind works and we are so glad you enjoyed your experience. Our crab cake is made from fresh local Jonah crabmeat which is truly a gift from the waters. Hope to serve you again on your next visit. We also have a location in Melrose, MA just outside of Boston. Cheers, Kathi Turner and The Turner's Salem Team - 362311522205Nov 16, 2023
I spent the day in Salem and had late lunch so coming inside away from the cold and having something to eat was finally nice.
I had the lobster bisque and a drink. When I received my lobster bisque it was a cup, but I assumed it was a bowl. Since it was much later in the day I ordered an additional bowl of clam chowder soup. The soup was creamy and very delicious. I enjoyed both a lot.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1
