Our Ethic

The Tailings Center was formed in early 2020 by the Colorado School of Mines (CSM), Colorado State University (CSU), and the University of Arizona (UA).

We are dedicated to addressing mining and resource extraction challenges.

We advance research, education and training in tailings management through a unique partnership with industry members.

Recent tailings failures and the consequent changes in regulatory and industry guidance have dramatically increased the demand for qualified professionals.
