Give now to support first-generation UM students

UM students on campus during the Big Sky Experience

Join our efforts to support first-generation students today.

One in four UM students are the first in their family to attend college. Your gift to any of four high-impact scholarship funds helps make a UM education affordable and accessible for them. Through this critical and flexible financial aid, UM can elevate and recognize these students and set them on a path to success.

Please support any of these four scholarships and make a difference today:

Montana Made Scholarship Fund

Montana Made Scholarships recognize and unlock the potential of dynamic, diverse and academically prepared first-year students at UM. Given to Montana students based on financial need, these scholarships are often awarded as part of Grizzly Promise packages for families with an income of $50,000 or less.

Treasure State Scholarship Fund

Treasure State Scholarships are academic merit awards that recognize the hard work and academic achievements of incoming UM students from Montana. These students come to UM with exemplary academic performance and leadership. These competitive awards will allow UM to engage and retain the best and brightest young minds in the state of Montana.

Grizzly Gateway Scholarship Fund

Grizzly Gateway Scholarships make the University of Montana more accessible for students who are not residents of Montana. These students are forging their own path by leaving their home state to access a world-class education and explore Montana’s abundant landscape.

Student Success Scholarship Fund

Student Success Scholarships open doors for countless students who could not afford to attend or remain at UM without help. The Office of Financial Aid uses these flexible funds to provide aid to students who need it most, whether they are first-year applicants, seniors balancing impending graduation and their career search, or nontraditional learners facing financial hardship during their academic journeys at UM.
