Your account will be auto charged each week and if your child does not attend, the charge will be removed at the end of the week.

There are no refunds or credits unless..

  1. You can provide a doctor’s note because your camper was ill

Sunshine does not offer daily rates for camp.

Sunshine has several locations in the Summer funded by the Children’s Services Council of Broward County. These camps are based on household income.

The Early Learning Coalition of Broward offers assistance to financially qualifying families and Sunshine accepts ELC.

Most of our camp locations are open from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Ivanhoe Community Center operates from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

There is no additional charge for 7:00 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. drop-off or

4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. pick up. All hours are included in your weekly charge.

Some camps charge a Before and After Summer Care Fee, but we do not.

All campers MUST arrive at camp by 8:15 a.m. for CSC Grant Funded locations and        8:45 a.m. for Recreational Camps. Our camp doors will be locked at these times. There are no exceptions for late drop off unless it is pre-scheduled with your camp Site Manager for a pre-scheduled appointment.

This is for your child’s safety. We must have an accurate attendance count at this time for staffing, busses, and field trip purposes.

Our CSC grant-funded camps accept campers entering into Kindergarten through exiting 5th grade.

Most of our Recreational Camps accept campers entering into Kindergarten through exiting 7th grade. Ivanhoe Community Center accepts campers entering into Kindergarten through exiting 5th grade.

If a camper is 4 years old but turns 5 in the summer and is entering Kindergarten, they can be registered.

Campers are grouped by the grade level they are entering the next school year.

Unfortunately, no. This is for the safety and security of all campers. Only Sunshine employees with the required clearances may supervise and be present with the campers.

All campers are required to bring in 1 bottle of spray sunscreen on their first day of camp. This bottle will be shared. If you have a specific sunscreen that only your camper must use, please label it with their name and inform the on-site manager.

Campers should come to camp with their bathing suits under their clothes. On Water Park days, campers should wear their Sunshine shirt. On pool days, it is not required.

Campers should bring a bookbag to camp with a change of clothes, a towel, and sandals or Crocs if preferred.  We suggest a plastic bag inside of their bookbag for wet clothes.

Please do not send your camper with their pool clothes in a shopping bag or plastic bag. It is hard for the campers to manage on and off the bus as well as in the changing rooms. A book bag daily is the best way to keep their belongings.

All of our CSC Funded Grant campers will participate in 6 – 7 weeks of swim lessons.

Our Recreational Camp campers will be swimming at the YMCA Aquatic Center in Pembroke Pines. We have established a wonderful working relationship with the YMCA team and their lifeguards.

All campers are required to take a swim test the first time they attend the Aquatic Center. The lifeguards will then assign them a colored wristband which we document.

The wristband colors are as follows:

RED:   Non-Swimmer – Allowed to go to the water park (about ankle deep) and the shallow end of the pool

YELLOW: Swimmer but still learning – Allowed to go to the water park, shallow end and     semi-deep end of the pool, and water slides

GREEN: Swimmer – Allowed to go to the water park, entire pool, water slides, and diving board.

Campers are allowed to test each time they go to the pool if they choose to do so. Your camper may be in swim lessons or may get nervous the first time. We encourage them to keep learning and test again each week if they want a different color.

Your camper can bring money on a Field Trip, but it is not required. Campers should not plan to spend money on lunch during a field trip. The lines and wait times may exceed the time for enjoying the trip.

Campers may choose to bring money for extra snacks, drinks, or game cards.

Campers can either hold their money (Sunshine is not responsible), OR you are welcome to put their money in a sandwich-sized zip lock bag with your camper name on it and give it to your Summer Camp Front Desk staff member.

According to the National Highway Safety Transportation Administration:

“Students are about 70 times more likely to get to school safely when taking a bus instead of traveling by car. That’s because school buses are the most regulated vehicles on the road; they’re designed to be safer than passenger vehicles in preventing crashes and injuries, and in every State, stop-arm laws protect children from other motorists.

Seat belts have been required on passenger cars since 1968, and 49 States and the District of Columbia have enacted laws requiring the use of seat belts in passenger cars and light trucks. There is no question that seat belts play an important role in keeping passengers safe in these vehicles. But school buses are different by design, including a different kind of safety restraint system that works extremely well.

Large school buses are heavier and distribute crash forces differently than passenger cars and light trucks do. Because of these differences, bus passengers experience much less crash force than those in passenger cars, light trucks, and vans.

NHTSA decided the best way to provide crash protection to passengers of large school buses is through a concept called “compartmentalization.” This requires that the interior of large buses protect children without them needing to buckle up. Through compartmentalization, children are protected from crashes by strong, closely-spaced seats that have energy-absorbing seat backs.

Small school buses (with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or less) must be equipped with lap and/or lap/shoulder belts at all designated seating positions. Since the sizes and weights of small school buses are closer to those of passenger cars and trucks, seat belts in those vehicles are necessary to provide occupant protection.”

Campers will receive their camp shirts on the first two days of camp during pick-up hours. If your camper does not attend the first week, you can pick up their shirts at pick up on their first day of camp.

Camp shirts are to be worn on all Field Trip days. On Water Park Days, campers should come dressed for the pool underneath their Sunshine shirt. Camp shirts DO NOT need to be worn on weekly pool days.

Be sure to label your camper’s shirt with their initials when you retrieve them.
