NYC Marathon 2014 racers made bold fashion statements on Sunday

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- On one of the coldest days of the season, 50,000 runners put on their warmest racing attire to participate in the NYC Marathon on Sunday.

While fashion may not have been the highest priority for racers from across the globe, many participants managed to make bold style statements.

From ceremonial headdresses and religious ponchos, to neon sneakers, gloves, socks and headbands, racers of all ages managed to to sport their own personal style during the highly anticipated annual marathon.

In addition to a rainbow of bright colors, those on the sidelines couldn't help noticing the logos of racers' favorite sportswear designers, from Nike and Skechers to Under Armour and Adidas, displayed on shirts, shorts and sneakers.

Another race attire theme was "city-centric" wear depicting the Manhattan skyline with sayings such as  "Been There, Run That"  from a collection released in the city's Lululemon stores. The limited-edition line was designed specifically for the 2014 NYC Marathon, reported the Daily News.

One noticeable complement to racers' attire were GoPro cameras, worn around their necks to catch all the action as they competed in the race.
