Wind Loads on Irregular Buildings
The ASCE 7 Standard provides prescriptive provisions for determining wind loads on regular shaped buildings. Practitioners are tasked with designing a wide variety of building structures, that don’t always fit exactly within the provisions of the standard. This session will provide guidance on applying the wind provisions to a variety of building shapes and components by understanding how wind pressures and pressure coefficients relate to wind flow around a building. Additional design guides will be discussed, and examples will be presented. This presentation was developed by the NCSEA Wind Engineering Committee.
