LeeCares Hurricane Ian Housing Recovery Program Application Deadline - May 15, 2024

The City of Sanibel received the following information from Lee County Government:The online application portal and submission of new applications online or in-person for the LeeCares Hurricane Ian Housing Recovery Program will conclude at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 15.

Beach Renourishment Crews Mobilize to Add Additional Sand Near Lighthouse. The Lighthouse Beach Parking Lot (Gulfside) will be Temporarily Closed Thursday Morning, April 18, 2024.

City of Sanibel Department of Natural Resources has identified areas near the Sanibel Lighthouse that will receive additional sand in response to erosion from recent weather events. Permits have already been acquired for more substantial renourishment at Lighthouse Beach Park to occur in the Fall of 2024. Fortunately, contractors are able to begin the project to restore the berm before sea turtle nesting season begins in May. Lighthouse Beach Parking Lot (Gulfside) will be temporarily closed on Thursday morning, April 18th for crews to mobilize equipment. As soon as equipment is in place, it will be reopened for the remainder of the day through the weekend.  The Bayside section of Lighthouse Beach Park will not be impacted this week.
