Mary Ardery was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana. She earned degrees from DePauw University (B.A.) and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale (M.F.A.), where she won an Academy of American Poets Prize, directed the 2019 Little Grassy Literary Festival, and served as an Assistant Editor for Crab Orchard Review. Other work experience includes camp counseling, catering, painting dorm rooms, harvesting vineyards, leading therapeutic wilderness expeditions, teaching college-level creative writing and composition, and serving patrons at a public library. The recipient of a Lifelong Arts fellowship from the Indiana Arts Commission, Mary currently lives and works in West Lafayette, Indiana with her husband, son, and Boston Terrier named Bug.
