26 June 2019 Background At the
closure of the consultation with users around a change to the Halifax House Price Index (“HHPIâ€) methodology on 18 December 2018, IHS Markit Benchmark Administration Limited (the “Administratorâ€) informed users that any decision by the Administrator to begin using the new HHPI methodology to generate house price data to be published in the monthly and quarterly HHPI press releases prior to 1 July 2020 would be communicated to all users with
a minimum of three months’ advance notice.
Proposal to shorten notice period In order to provide scope for the Administrator to begin using the new HHPI methodology to generate house price data to be published in the monthly and quarterly HHPI press releases earlier than originally planned, the Administrator is proposing a
shortening of the advance notice period from three months to one month. To be clear, any shortening of the advanced notice period would have no impact on the Administrator’s commitment to continue to provide users with all HHPI series generated using the existing HHPI methodology until 1 July 2020.
