Louisiana State University Eunice signed and returned the Certification and Agreement for the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES Act) to the Department of Education, and received $2,060,199 in HEERF1 funding. Per the agreement, at least 50 percent ($1,030,100) was used exclusively for the purpose of providing emergency financial aid grants to students for their expenses related to the disruption of campus operations because of the coronavirus pandemic.
An additional $1,030,100.00 in HEERF2 student directed funding known as Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) was received and disbursed to students during the Spring 2021 semester.
With the authorization of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) signed into law on March 11, 2021, LSU Eunice received $3,794,715.00 in student directed funding. The first disbursement of these funds was issued during the Fall 2021 semester with additional disbursements planned for Spring 2022.
Specific details regarding the process and eligibility criteria for all HEERF funds are provided by disbursement date below.
At the time of this disbursement, according to the U.S. Department of Education, in order to be eligible, students must have met the requirements of Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended:
The requirements listed above were verified through the federal financial aid application process; therefore, the University required all students who wished to be considered for a CARES Act Grant to have submitted a 2019-20 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by May 6, 2020. In addition to the above requirements, the student must have been enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (half-time) for Spring 2020.
According to the Department of Education, students who fit the following criteria were not eligible to receive the CARES Act grant:

CARES Act grants totaling $696,200.00 were awarded to 1,332 eligible students based on registered hours as of March 13, 2020, and according to the following schedule:

Awards were posted to students' University accounts and then issued directly to the student by means of check delivered via U.S. Postal Service to the current mailing address on file or direct deposit as requested by student recipient.
The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the Cares Act is $2,060,200. The total unduplicated number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant is 2,703.
To date, the total amount of HEERF III grants distributed to students under American Rescue Plan (ARP), Public Law 117-2 is $3,794,715.00. The total unduplicated number of students who have received grant awards under this provision is 2,941.
