Welcome to my website!

My name is Dr. Julie Plasencia and I am an Assistant Professor and registered dietitian at the University of Kentucky in the Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. I am an affiliate faculty of the Center for Equality and Social Justice, the Center for Health Equity Transformation, and hold a joint appointment with the College of Dentistry - Wellness, Diagnosis and Prevention Clinic. This website provides information about my research, collaborators, publications, teaching, and involvement in professional activities.

My research focuses on designing and conducting mixed methods studies on various aspects of health disparities, mainly focusing on cultural food practices of Hispanics/Latinos.

I was a 2019–2022 Clinical Scholars Fellow. Clinical Scholars is a national leadership program supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. It invests in experienced health care providers who are passionate about collaborating across disciplines to tackle complex health problems in their communities.
