We are creating a connected network of Indigenous-led protected areas spanning the length of the eastern United States.

MISSON

The members of Indigenous East are working to accelerate the protection of Indigenous Cultural Landscapes (ICLs) and other critical lands for people and nature, by creating a connected network of Indigenous community leaders and Indigenous protected areas spanning the east coast of the United States from Maine to Florida.

We also seek to demonstrate the value of Indigenous Science (IS) and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), and to assist the upward movement of Indigenous and Afro-Indigenous scientists and leaders in conservation organizations and governmental organizations.

Funding received from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
