Teaching Scholars Summer Institute

The 20th annual Teaching Scholars Summer Institute will be held Monday, June 3, to Wednesday, June 5, via Zoom. The three-day event focuses on developing educational theories/technologies as well as promoting educational skills, critical thinking and innovative educational approaches.

Following the virtual Summer Institute, the in-person Simulation Certificate Program will be held Thursday, June 6, and Friday, June 7, at the David and Jo Ann Shaw Center for Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety (STEPS) on the Health Sciences Campus in Morgantown.

All events are open to faculty in all health-related schools, including schools of dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy and public health, and allied health professionals.

Virtual Teaching Scholars Summer Institute

Throughout the Summer Institute, attendees will engage in lecture and discussion session topics including learning styles and strategies, scholarship in education, information technology, leadership in education and assessment.

Non-WVU Registration

Prior to May 15, registration for non-WVU employees is $500 per person or $400 per person for groups of four or more.

After May 15, registration for non-WVU employees is $600 per person and no group discount will be offered.

The registration deadline is May 31, 2024.

In-person Simulation Certificate Program

The WVU STEPS Simulation Certificate Program is designed for instructors to enhance their skills in quality teaching with simulation. The program will begin with a virtual session on Wednesday, June 5, titled “SIM I: Introduction to Simulation,” as part of the Teaching Scholars Summer Institute. In-person sessions, “SIM II: Applied Techniques of Simulation Education” and “SIM III: Advanced Topics in Simulation,” will take place Thursday, June 6, and Friday, June 7, at the David and Jo Ann Shaw Center for Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety (STEPS) on the Health Sciences Campus in Morgantown. STEPS is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

Non-WVU Registration

Registration for non-WVU employees is $1,000.

A certificate of participation is available for $20. Attendees are required to attend all sessions to receive the certificate.

A certificate of participation will be provided at no cost. Attendees are required to attend all sessions to receive the certificate.
