Welcome!!

I'm an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Health & Society, the Department of Health Policy, and the Program for Public Policy Studies at Vanderbilt University. I am also an Associate Director of the Vanderbilt LGBTQ+ Policy Lab.

My research team and I investigate how policy affects health outcomes, access to care, and health services utilization for LGBTQ+ populations in the United States.

LGBTQ+ Health & Policy Research

I have published over 60 peer-reviewed studies in high-impact outlets, including the American Journal of Public Health, Pediatrics, JAMA, Health Services Research, the New England Journal of Medicine, and The Milbank Quarterly

My research has been covered by news outlets such as CNN, Reuters, the New York Post, The Guardian, and the U.S. News and World Report. 

Training the Next Generation of Health Services Researchers & Health Policy Practitioners

I teach courses on the U.S. health care system and public policy research methods for undergraduate students at Vanderbilt University. I also mentor undergraduate, graduate, and medical students interested in health policy and health equity research. 

In 2016, I was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Research on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for my research on LGBTQ+ health at Vanderbilt University.
