BLO Street Stage began in 2020 with a mission to bring live opera to communities safely during a global pandemic. Today our customized mobile stage travels across the greater Boston area to bring live music, free to your neighborhood.

Since its inception, BLO Street Stage has hosted two World Premieres – “my name is Alondra” and MISOZDI YAMARIMBA.

“my name is Alondra” premiered in May 2021 as part of Poetry in Music, a collaboration between Boston Lyric Opera, featuring poems by City of Boston Youth Poet Laureate Alondra Bobadilla set to music by tenor and 2020/21 BLO Emerging Artist Composer Omar Najmi.

Original narrative MISOZDI YAMARIMBA premiered in August 2021, in partnership between BLO and Castle of our Skins, featuring original music and narration from composer and soprano Tanyaradzwa Tawengwa-Nzou Mambano, the inaugural Creative-in-Residence with Castle of Our Skins, brought to life by artists from Boston Lyric Opera and musicians from Castle of our Skins.
