Doula Services

a space of support, education, and empowerment

My Vision

In a society overflowing with information about pregnancy, birth, and parenthood, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Instead of looking inward, we are programmed from a young age to seek answers externally. But with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum this narrative should be different.

I take an evidence-based, person-centered approach to care. My intention is to help pregnant and birthing persons connect with their intuition and the innate wisdom of their womb, while simultaneously integrating the evidence-based information that is most pertinent to them and which will help them navigate our complex maternal healthcare system. As a doula, I seek to provide informational tools and emotional support that allow you to explore, and trust, your intuition. My hope for all mothers and birthing persons is to have a birth and postpartum experience in which they feel empowered, proud, and respected.

Working in an inclusive framework, equity, respect, and individuality are central pillars in my practice. When culture, tradition, and values are nurtured, each individual birth and the transition to parenthood can unfold more organically.

Why Hire a Doula?

In all circumstances, quality social support is good for our health. Research has shown that social support and connection is necessary for wellbeing and quality of life. Social support also has a stress-buffering effect. Hiring a doula ensures you have a support person whose job is to support your wellbeing throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Research shows that individuals giving birth with the support of a doula experience a:

  • 15% increase in the likelihood of spontaneous vaginal delivery

  • 20% decrease in the use of any medications for pain relief (i.e. epidural anesthesia or pain medication)

  • decrease in risk of needing a vacuum- or forceps-assisted delivery

  • 39% decrease in the risk of needing a cesarean birth

  • 38% decrease in the baby’s risk of a low five minute Apgar score·

  • SHORTER labor by 41 minutes on average

  • 31% decrease in the risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience

As a doula, my primary role is to support the birthing person and to advocate for their needs and desires while protecting their informed consent. Whether birthing in a hospital or at home, with an epidural or unmedicated, I will be an advocate for your birth wishes.

If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it.
