I use DBT and art therapy to help anxious people re-connect to their creative, intuitive selves so they can live a more joyous life without persistent self-doubt and worry.

Are you constantly saying yes out of guilt or obligation? Do you often feel criticized — like you can’t do anything right in a particular relationship? Sometimes we lose our voice in relationships and forget how to tend to our own needs. Do you long for a brighter future where you feel fulfilled and engaged again? This is a warm and creative space that encourages a new story founded on resilience.

Aimee Jette, LPC, ATR, CLAT

I get it!

  • When you speak up, it’s not always received well, conversations with loved ones sometimes leave you feeling more lonely than before you started. It’s HARD to set boundaries and even more difficult when you don’t know where to start.

  • There is a better way. Together we will go over tools that can start bringing you relief and help you feel like you are expressing yourself in effective ways. We will also do the work to get back in touch with the little kid inside you who values joy, fun, and creativity.

You might be wondering…

  • How the heck am I going to find the time for this? I have so many obligations already. Now I have to spend ANOTHER hour during the week for therapy? I don’t think so.

  • Of course you feel overwhelmed, you are totally maxed out! Together, using goal-oriented therapy, we will look at where you are now, and create with a plan to get you where you want to go. Your time is valuable, and you want to start living a happier life, now.

You may be thinking…

  • I’m not sure I can afford to spend this on myself at this time. Therapy isn’t cheap. I charge $225 for the initial intake session and $200 for 50-minute sessions after that.

  • It’s an investment in yourself. We invest in things like a personal trainer or a financial planner to help us achieve goals in other parts of our lives. Therapy can be an investment in your emotional, spiritual, creative, and physical well-being.

Clients who love working with me…

  • Are typically very hard-working, curious, creative individuals who tend to be hard on themselves.

  • Experience ah-has during their art-making sessions.

  • Think deeply about how they interact in the world, how they impact others, and how others impact them.

  • Find the combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Art Therapy an innovative approach to therapy.

  • Enjoy homework assignments between sessions.

  • Can see their progress over time and get excited about their future goals.

  • Are open to guidance and willing to take suggestions that fit into their goals!

We are not a good fit if…

  • You are chronically late to sessions. Our time together is valuable and it’s important to me to get the most out of each session.

  • You are unable to make at least two sessions a month in the initial phase of therapy. It’s most beneficial to meet weekly in the beginning. Eventually, we will move to bi-weekly, then monthly, or discharge from care. Therapy shouldn’t be forever.

  • You don't like creative homework between sessions.

  • You don't like a therapist who has a slightly dark sense of humor. Humor has a place in therapy at the right time, and it’s important to find levity where we can!

I help anxious students strengthen their identity and set boundaries without becoming emotionally drained and disheartened after interacting with parents, friends, coaches, and bosses.

“I wish my mom would see that I AM busy and working on my resume; I don't need the to-do list. OF COURSE, I want to get a job, but it's freaking exhausting, and sometimes it feels pointless. I have no idea how I will be able to make a living or support myself with the way things are right now!”

I help people who find it challenging to communicate their thoughts and feelings, regulate their emotions through DBT and Art Therapy so they feel more seen and heard without constant rumination or second-guessing after social interactions.

“I know what I want to say, but it NEVER comes out right. Sometimes when my boyfriend asks me outright how I feel about something, I literally have no answer because I don't know. Everyone else seems to have it together. I'm constantly guessing. I’m letting people down.”

I help exhausted and depleted individuals re-discover their inner voice to set appropriate boundaries and revive their passions without sacrificing relationships with friends, family, and peers.

“If I make one more meal without someone helping me clean up, I will lose it. It is like PULLING TEETH to get help emptying the dishwasher. My husband scrolls on his phone; I miss what we used to have. What happened!!??”

If you spoke with one of my clients they would likely say, "I didn't know how art worked in therapy, but I surprised myself; I made connections which helped me understand my situation better."

One thing that my clients value is that they learned ways of communicating which has improved their self-confidence and willingness to pursue their goals more fully.

Aimee’s Approach

Art is anything you create. You don’t have to be an artist to benefit from art making. The act of creating something helps you release some of the heavy weight you’ve been carrying, express yourself without reliving a past experience, and share emotions that might transcend words. Learn more
