Jorge Iber is Associate Dean in the Student Division and Professor of History at Texas Tech University.  His principal area of research focuses on the significance of the history of Latinos/as in US sport. He is the author/co-author/editor of various works including:Latino American Wrestling Experience: Over 100 Years of Wrestling Heritage in the US (National Wrestling Hall of Fame, 2014); Latinos in US Sports: A History of Isolation, Cultural Identity, and Acceptance (Human Kinetics, 2011); Mexican Americans and Sport: A Reader on Athletics and Barrio Life (Texas A&M University Press, 2006); Hispanics in the American West (ABC Clio, 2005); and Hispanics in the Mormon Zion, 1912-1999 (Texas A&M University Press, 2002) and almost two dozen scholarly and encyclopedia articles.

He is the editor of an upcoming anthology entitled More the Just Peloteros: Sport and US Latino Communities for Texas Tech University Press (to be published in the fall of 2014).  He is series editor for Sport in the American West for Texas Tech University Press (with five books already published and more on the way).  He has also edited two issues for Journal of the West; one on Latinos in the region, the other on sport in the West.  He is now editing another issue for JOW on the role of sport in Latino life in the region.  Currently, he is involved in two other projects dealing with Latinos and sport: 1) he is completing a biography on the life and career of former MLB pitcher, Mike Torrez (under contract with MacFarland Press and due to appear in late 2015) and 2) he is serving as co-author for a series of books on Mexican Americans and baseball in Texas (working with Richard Santillan) for Arcadia Press.  The first work in this series will appear sometime in 2015.
