Vintage Thanks

Hello Everyone,

I writing to let you know this will be my last post as DT for House of Cards. Life has gotten too busy for me to give the attention this beautiful and fantastic blog deserves. The team has been so supportive over the years! Their kind comments and reassuring words always made my day a bit brighter. I love this team and it was a hard decision to make.

House of Cards was my first DT position. They gave me the confidence to go ahead and create with aggressive energy... Thank you doesn't say enough to them; you have inspired, ignited, and expanded my creative mind in ways I would have thought impossible. Thank you.

Now that I am a bundle of tears I am going to show you my last DT card AND also wanted to let you know this is a blog hop! Follow HERE to find all the nitty-gritty details.

So without further ado, here is my card for today. Enjoy!

This card is a perfect example of marrying digital and stamped images.
You may have noticed from hoppin' around that this frame does look familiar.
It is a digital image from Digistamp4joy.
It is beautiful with the sentiment hand stamped inside the digital oval. You may have also noticed the crackle detail in the background; that too is also digital. The colored oval, however, is not digital. I printed out and colored with good old fashioned colored pencils.

Above: The rust colored satin ribbon seemed to be the perfect touch for the card's shabby elegance. The sketch instructed to have a banner on the other side of the card, but for me, that was not possible. So I thought adding the banner off the edge would be a beautiful touch. Below/Left: Can you believe this daisy embellishment is an earring! Yes, readers! I found it at a jewelry sale and because it didn't have its match it was free. I thought hanging the sentiment off it justifies the daisy. Plus, it is super cute! Bottom/Right: You may notice the shadow effect from the digi stamp. I will tell you it was manually done but digitally. A very short how-to: Take your digital image and make another layer and copy that image to that layer. Then use the brightness tool to darken the image. Move the image to create the shadow. I encourage you to play around with your photo-editing software and see what it can do! You will definitely be amazed!!!

Floral CAS Card

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another month and the start of a new challenge at House of Cards. Here is my card for today, enjoy...
A simple CAS card consisting of two colors from our photo.
I spotted this outlining technique on StampTV (Gina K.) videos.
Very simple and so beautiful.
Embossed flower in black and then outlined all the interior lines with a white gel pen. While the pen was drying I would smear the excess white over the flower. Added the sentiment. Done!

The sentiment seemed so fitting for this simple image.
In theme with our inspiration, the oversized flowers were placed in the corner of the card panel. Simplistic, elegant, and so easy to replicate.

Well, that should do it for me. I hope you have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by my little byte of the internet. I do hope you will join us at House of Cards. It should be fun! Until then take care and happy crafting.

House of Cards Challenge

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another month and the start of a new challenge at House of Cards. Here is my card for today, enjoy...
This image by Peddler's Pack was stamped using the MISTI for precise placement with VersaMark ink on black cardstock. Let the ink dry and then colored it using Prismacolor pencils. Lastly, I put the colored image back onto the MISTI and stamped it once more using black StazOn ink.

March 2018
Dragonflies are so iridescent, peaceful creatures. When kayaking it always fills me with joy and wonder when one takes a ride on my boat. I tried to depict it here but I think Mother Nature does a much better job than I.
This is a detailed shot depicting the detail of the stamp.
I think Peddler's Pack is one of the best companies when it comes to backgrounds.

Well, that should do it for me. I hope you have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by my little byte of the internet. I do hope you will join us at House of Cards. It should be fun! Until then take care and happy crafting.

S.W.A.K.

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another month and the start of a new challenge at House of Cards. Here is my card for today, enjoy...

This was a very fast card to create.
It took a bit of washi tape, some diecuting, enamel dots, and puffy stickers to get it done.

Some of you may not know what s.w.a.t. means.
Well no need to search Google it simply means
S.ealed W.ith A. K.iss

This design has a lot of patterns and yet it still works well.
That is because the washi tape shares the same colors which are what makes it a cohesive design.
Well, that should do it for me. I hope you have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by my little byte of the internet. I do hope you will join us at House of Cards. It should be fun! Until then take care and happy crafting.

Mixed Media Rose

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Here's to a creative 2018

And with that out of the way, I would like to welcome all of you to TheGrandStampede. We start this new year with a few challenges that I will be posting. I have been busy behind the scenes even though I haven't posted in two weeks. So here is the first challenge of the year at House of Cards! Before I get to the challenge here is my card for today, enjoy!

Mixed media seems to be a creative challenge for me.
But in this case, I think I did pretty well.
The rose was done some time ago and I put it on the
back burner for another project.
After several attempts at a card I settled down with this design.

I used embossing paste colored with acrylic paint on top of a painted panel that was done, again, some time ago.
The wooden hearts were painted a pale yellow color.
I thought the sentiment was perfect for New Year's Day.
The string of bling on the bottom added shine and sparkle.
Well, that should do it for me. I hope you have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by my little byte of the internet. I do hope you will join us at House of Cards. It should be fun! Until then take care and happy crafting.

On a side note: For those of you who know me you will know I am a big Buffalo Bills fan! They made the playoffs for the first time since 1999!
So...
Go Bills!

Here is the photo inspiration~

Used the digi Snowman with Tree Hat stamp set:

Sometimes it isn't a bad idea to crop an image. I think cropping the image works well here because of the tree-hat's position.
The banner and sentiment were created digitally.
The magic of layers is what made this possible.
It's Christmas so why not create a bit of sparkle. That is just what I did by adding Stickles to the ornaments and star. The bling was the perfect finishing touch to this design.

I used a limited color palette so the tree would shine and become the central focal point. I used my Mexpy markers to color the snowman and its hat.

Used image from Finn's Bells digi set

The modern backdrop is a freebie from Winnie & Walter. I really like the way the bells blend into its surroundings. I think it makes the scarlet red bow shine! The more you look the more you see.
Again, I used a limited color palette with this design as well. The different shades of green are representative of the tree from the inspiration photo.

No bling on this card. As you can see from the inspiration the photography wanted to use only natural elements like burlap, wood, and the natural wooden ornaments.
Wow does this bow stand out! Red and green together make such a pretty combination. I also wanted to pop the bells a bit more due to the busy backdrop. I did that by shading the bells like there was light shining on them from above. I don't know if I succeeded but it was worth a try.

Here are all of our fabulous sponsors.
Our team will be using a variety of products
from these amazing companies!

Prize: Any three products of your choice

Prize: $10 gift card

Prize: Choice of one digi stamp set
