Now we’re going to talk about the different states and the different kinds of translations that you can have in AEM translation jobs. So, there’re two main aspects that govern a translation job and that is, what type of translation? Whether it is Machine Translation or Human Translation and if it’s Human Translation, whether you are integrating automatically to a set translation service provider or whether you’re doing a manual transfer of files, for the translation job. Now let’s focus, for starters, on the translation job states. So, the translation job states will start from draft, you hit the start button, then you’re going to go into submitted. Also, if you’re using Human Translation, optionally, you can, instead of starting the translation, you can request the scope for this translation, which will then move on to scope completed. Once the scope has been completed it means that the translation service provider, has sent to you the scope so that you can review it and then you can accept it and when you accept it you commit the translation job for translation, that would move, translation job into this state of committed for translation. Then, you can start to see the translation in progress state that’s when the translation service provider will be actively translating your translation job. Now, from the translation in progress state and from the committed for translation state, you can go into the cancel state if you decide to cancel the translation job. Also once the translation in progress state has finished that means the translation service provider has finished the translation of the job, the state will go into translated, that means the job and the individual items have been translated and then, it will move on to ready for review. When you are on the ready for review state that means that, the files of the translation job have already been imported into AEM, with the translation so that you can review and then after you review it you can approve or accept the translations so that translation can go into the state complete. Okay, so an additional item that I want to discuss here is regarding Machine Translation and Human Translation. If you switch into Human Translation, for example, if I move into the ellipses in the summary tile and then go to Advanced here and then change the type of translation from Machine to Human Translation, in this case I have a Human Translation, that is not actually integrated into AEM but rather I have to manually export the translation job so when I go into that mode or method of translation, Human Translation, I have the option to export a translation job and this will effectively, download a set of files that I can later use to send over to the translation prior. These files will be exported in standard formats in XLIFF, XML or JSON.

Additionally, once your translation provider or service provider has finished their job, you can import a translation job from there. You can import the translation job using the import functionality, which will allow you to explore your file system and get the zip file with all of the serialized translation job files.

Now we just explored one kind of Human Translation, which is the one that doesn’t integrate into a AEM so that you can automatically send over the translation job via the internet but rather you have to manually download the translation job and send it over and then import it back into AEM manual but if you have a connector, into either translations.com, Lyon region there’re several other ones, that AEM supports that you can install into your AEM server, then, you can once again, leverage AEMs translation integration framework so you can manage the translation jobs states for Human Translation as we discussed previously where you can request the scope, complete the scope and so on and so forth and go through all the different states. -
