Hi there. In this video, let’s take a quick look at how to access AEM assets within the Adobe Asset Link panel for a creative user. Adobe Asset Link streamlines collaboration between creative professionals and marketers in the content creation process. It connects Adobe Experience Manager assets with creative Cloud desktop applications like InDesign, Photoshop, and illustrator. The Adobe Asset Link panel allows creators to access and modify content stored in AEM assets without leaving the application they are most familiar with. From the product toolbar options, choose window. And from the extensions list, let’s select Adobe Asset Link. After choosing the AEM environment, you can see an option to view files and collections stored in AEM assets. Files contain images, videos, and other content required to satisfy an organization’s marketing needs. We will cover collections shortly. Let’s explore the files and navigate to the WKND Site folder. Our sample reference copy, WKND, is a multinational organization, and has a separate website for each country or region. If your organization requires a separate website for each region, you can create a separate sub-folder for each locale under the parent folder. Let’s check the English WKND asset folder. Within the WKND asset folder, you can now see various categories. Let’s open the activities folder and choose cycling. As a creative user, you can navigate through AEM assets’ files and folders within your Adobe Asset Link panel and make changes to an asset using the context menu. Let’s consider a scenario in which a company’s marketer would like to select a few assets from AEM assets for a marketing campaign, and requires some design edits that needs to be done by a creative user. A marketer can then create a collection within AEM assets. A collection can include assets from different locations within AEM assets. Let’s switch to an AEM assets instance, and see how a marketer can create a new collection and share the collection with the creative user. From the AEM home page, let’s open AEM Assets and navigate to the WKND assets folder. Let’s look at the activities folder. For the upcoming WKND site campaign, a marketer needs to select one asset from each activity folder, collaborate with creators users to make edits, and then choose the best asset for the WKND site campaign. In the past, to make edits to the selected asset files, a marketer needs to share assets individually with the creative users via Email or Fileshare. To simplify the process of sharing and collaborating with the creative user, a marketer can now create a collection using the selected assets. Let’s see how to create a collection. From the adventure cycling folder, select an asset and choose the Add To Collect option. You can either add to an existing collection or create a new collection. Let’s add a few more assets to the collection and save it. A collection created by a marketer can now be accessed by a creative user within the Adobe Asset Link panel. Let’s switch to the creative Cloud desktop application, and navigate to Adobe Asset Link panel and choose collections. Now you should be able to view the collections created within AEM Assets available in your Adobe Asset Link panel. And using the context menu for an asset, a creative user can check out an asset and make changes to it. After making all the changes, a user can check in your changes, and it would be reflected within the AEM Assets UI. A collection holds references to each asset, and any change made to an asset inside a collection reflects on the original asset as well. I hope I was able to give you a good enough description of what files and collections are.
