Eiffel Tower Crochet Finish

I have finished the corner to corner style crocheted afghan of the Eiffel Tower - this was delivered yesterday as a graduation gift to my granddaughter.  It measures 35" by 49.5". 

I purchased this "Corner to Corner" crochet pattern on Etsy at this link .  This was a new to me crochet technique which seemed impossible to figure out at first but after a few weeks of on-- line tutorials (youtube is my friend) it finally started to make sense so I was glad I was able to finish this in time to gift it yesterday.

My daughter has a friend who is having a baby this summer so my next crochet project is already in progress.

I have so many cross stitch and crochet wips waiting for me so I don't think I will ever run out of fun things to do.

The yarn I am using is as follows (substitutions): 

Pattern uses Big Twist (Joann Fabrics)  - I substituted: #4 weight Michael's brand 'Impeccable' 

C1 - (2) Big Twist    -    6 skeins Chocolate (~297 yards/skein) 

C2 - (1) Big Twist    -    3 skeins Orange (~297 yards/skein) 

C3 - (1) Big Twist    -    3 skeins Ivory (or Cream) (~297 yards/skein) 

C4 - (1) Big Twist    -    3 skeins Mustard (~297 yards/skein) 

C5 - (1) Big Twist    -    3 skeins Teal (~297 yards/skein)

I started with a chain of  131 stitches and I will be doing 229 rows.  I am guessing it will be approximately 38 inches wide by 57 inches high before I add the envelope border which will hide all of the loose yarn tails

Ornament Exchange

I was a participant in a facebook ornament exchange for the first time and I must share with you the package I received from my partner.

First of all the ornament is absolutely beautiful and I will treasure it forever.  It should be displayed all year round and not just at Christmas - Peace is something to achieve every day.  I just cannot stop marveling at how lovely it is.

The fabric is such a great color and I can't wait to find the perfect chart(s) for it. 

The workmanship on the project bag is over the top.  I have a cross stitch kit that I assembled  and I haven't been able to decide how to keep it safe while I finish other projects - it's currently in a ziploc bag and pinned to my bulletin board.  This project bag is just perfect for it.

I absolutely love the owl ornament and the other extra special gifts:

the towel of the reindeer names

the mini notebooks

the cute clothes pin clips, and the lip balm.

I was so excited to be able to join the exchange but I never dreamed how exciting it would be to receive such a wonderful package.

 

I have pictures of the package I sent but I don't think my partner has opened her package yet so I will post those pictures later

XS Tiny Town Finish

 I finished the Heart in Hand Big Hearted Tiny Town.    I still have not finished the first Tiny Town (Christmas) into a drum so I am not sure what kind of finish this Tiny Town will turn into.

World Series - a great game

Thank you D'Backs - what a ride you gave us. I can't wait for spring and the games to begin. 

Congratulations to the Texas Rangers for winning the World Series - they were the best team this year.

Celebrate - World Series

I have started another TinyTown - this is Big Hearted Tiny Town. 
I was supposed to use a light pink on the right side of the double building with LOVE at the bottom.  I don't want to frog that much so I am trying to decide where to use that color somewhere on the remaining chart.  It's such a pretty pink and that building was the only place it was used - I just don't want to not use it somewhere.

I am stitching this on 16 count aida which is not easy - there are a lot of fractional stitches with these little cuties.
