Archive Wizards

These tools WILL NOT alter your site in any way.

State of the Site/Course Download

Download an archive of the current state of the site. (Assignment submissions, files and submissions, discussion posts, grades, etc).

  1. Begin by clicking the State of the Site/Course Download button.
  2. By default all tools currently turned on in the course/site are checked to be included in the Archive. You can uncheck those tools you do not wish to include.
  3. Files and Folders (within the File Manager) and Relay Files are unchecked by default because they tend to be larger files. You will need to check the Files and Folder box before the Relay box becomes available.

These files may be too large to archive using the wizard. If this is true for your course “too large” will be written in red next to these options.

  4. Click the “Archive this Site/Course” button once you have chosen what you would like to archive.

Depending on the site size and options chosen this may take several minutes to complete.

  5. Once the archive is complete a “Download the Archive” button will become available. Click this button to download the archive to your computer. You must download and save the archive because this does not save the archive to your course. If you do not save the download it cannot be retrieved from within SOLE.

This archive is used to review the content of the course and cannot be used to restore data to the course.

Backup Site Download

Download an exact backup file of the current site, which can be used to restore the site within 21 days.

Please note, external LTI tools such as Collaborate and TurnItIn cannot be backed up by SOLE.

  1. Begin by clicking the Sire/Course Backup Download button.
  2. By default most of the tools currently turned on in the course/site are checked to be included in the Download. You can uncheck those tools you do not wish to include.
  3. Files and Folders (within the File Manager) and Relay Files are unchecked by default because they tend to be larger files. You will need to check the Files and Folder box before the Relay box becomes available.

These files may be too large to archive using the wizard. If this is true for you course “too large” will be written in red next to these options.

  4. Click the “Continue” button once you have chosen what you would like to archive.

Depending on the site size and options chosen this may take several minutes to complete.

  5. Once the backup is complete a “Backup Successful” button will become available and the backup will be downloaded to your computer. Click this button to return to the archive tab. You must save the backup file to your computer because this does not save the archive to your course. If you do not save the download it cannot be retrieved from within SOLE.
  6. This Backup downloads the entire course (the tools chosen) and can be used by the Restore Wizard within 21 days to restore the course back to this date and time. Any changes made to the course/site since this backup was downloaded will be lost once the restore is complete.
