  • Documenting APIs when Preferences Matter

HTTP Headers provide interesting ways of requests "preferences" from a Web server--content (media type) negotiation, language negotiation, etc. This article describes various attempts (OpenAPI/Swagger and RAML) to describe such HTTP-based preference expression...and where the API documentation tooling and industry still lacks capabilities to describe these features well.

  • Sync Globally, Work Locally

    php|architect Magazine

Offline data access is the Achilles’ Heel of the cloud. What happens when the power’s out? Or the service is down? Scary stuff if you don’t have the ability to synchronize your data locally, easily–and stay in sync. CouchDB offers a powerful replication system that allows you to move not only your data, but complete web apps to your local machine to keep things running smoothly. We’ll discuss the importance of replication, create a CouchApp to demonstrate it, and use PHP to keep the replication…

BlueInk is currently available as a Software-as-a-Service CMS for small to medium sized businesses. It can be customized for specific needs for larger business that may have more specific types of content.

In addition to the Software-as-a-Service option, I'm actively rebuilding BlueInk on Apache CouchDB as a CouchApp built entirely of JavaScript (client and server side), HTML, and CSS. This rewrite is available under the Apache Foundation License 2.0.

My goal is to change the way people work with information, and BlueInk on CouchDB has opened fascinating new options.
