Our Mission
In partnership with our families and community, Lakewood City Schools will develop responsible citizens, who are critical and creative thinkers, committed to life-long learning, invested in a diverse society, and prepared for technological and global opportunities.
Vision of a Lakewood Ranger

Growth Mindset
The new AP African American Studies course at Lakewood High School is part of a pilot program in which LHS is one of only 60 schools across the nation participating. Teacher Austin Sparks and his students are stretching their minds and diving deep into a historical perspective that most students have not before learned at such a comprehensive level. The interest in this new course has been high from our students and the local and national media. Click on Learn More below to watch a recent local news story on Austin Sparks, the class and his students.
Collaboration
A partnership with First Ring First Fellowship (FRFF) program and the Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District led Lakewood High science teachers Rita Chahda and Ann Pesta and their AP Environmental Science and biology students to remove a large amount of the invasive vegetation recently from a storm basin on the high school grounds. Working together with the county, the students learned about the Great Lakes watershed and how to protect it. Click on Learn More below to read about this project that also included Vision competencies of communication and global citizenship.
