House of Cards

  Unfortunately we are saying a fond farewell, 

as this is our last challenge and we are closing.  

We want to say goodbye and thank you all for supporting us through the years.

The closing of this challenge is rather bittersweet for me,
as this was the first DT I was invited to be part of.

Hello there!

Well, it's the 1st of August and that means

Use Patterned Paper and/or Colors

I used paper tole products and patterned paper

 from Paper Wishes for my DT card.

These products are great for designing quick and easy cards

and I love the layering!

I did some dry embossing and added, ribbon, a bow and some enamel dots.

I chose a cute digi from Pretty Grafik Designs

as the focal for my card and used the colors and a printed paper with popsicles.

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Markers and fussy cut.

I stamped the sentiment from a stamp set I've had for ages!

HOC May Challenge

Can you believe it's May?

It's really hard for me to believe another month has come and gone!

Well, onward and upward, right?

A new month always brings a new challenge to

House of  Cards.

This month we want to see

Shaped Cards and/or Colors

I have to admit, I kinda took the easy way out

with my card creation this month.

This card was created with a "Hunky Dory Card Kit"

from Crafter's Companion.

The kit comes with several shaped card bases

and a lot of embellishments and sentiments

that can be used as you like to complete the design.

April Challenge at HOC

Hey there!

It's April 1st and that means it's time for a new challenge at

House of Cards!

For this month's theme we would like to see

CAS Floral Corner and/or Colors

I incorporated the CAS theme as well as some of the colors for my card.

I used a Sheena Douglass stamp set from Crafter's Companion

for the gerbera daisies and colored with Spectrum Noir ColourBlend Pencils.

The sentiment is also from Crafter's Companion - "My Sunshine"

Spectrum Noir Colorista Aqua Stamp Set.

I wrapped ribbon around the stamped panel, added a bow

and matted with kraft card stock. All is applied to an ivory 6.5 x.5 inch card base.

CAS is not usually my style, but I love the way this turned out.

I think I'll be playing with some more CAS designs in the future!

HOC March Challenge

Hello there!

It's March 1st and that brings a new challenge at

House Of Cards!

This month we want your cards to

Use Colored Pencils on Dark Card and/or Colors

I used some of the colors as well as dark card and pencil colors.

The background was created with a page from a

Spectrum Noir Coloriste Dark Pad

and Spectrum Noir Colourblend Pencils.

I punched a tag shape and stamped a sentiment.

I added ribbon, a butterfly and gems.

February Challenge at House of Cards

Hello there!

Well, it's February and that means it's time for a new challenge at

House of Cards.

This month we are asking those who link up with us to~

Create a Valentine Background and/or Colors

I created a simple card using the colors and my background

was created by dry embossing and rubbing stamping ink

over the raised portions.

I die cut 2 hearts and stamped the Valentine sentiment.

I added some twine and bubble dots for embellishment.

House of Cards January 2018 Challenge

Happy New Year!

We have another holiday season behind us

and it's time to start a brand new year.

Can you believe it?

I can't!!

Anyway, it's onwards and upwards

and for me that starts with a new challenge at

House of Cards!

This month we want to see...

Mixed Media and/or Colors

I'm learning to really like Mixed Media.

There's no right or wrong or "messing up".

And it's fun to experiment with new techniques

that I don't often use in my usual style.

I used mixed media paper for my background

and sprayed it with 3 colors of shimmer mist and water.

I blotted with a paper towel in between spraying 

to get more of the effect I was wanting.

Next I applied some texture paste over a rose stencil.

I distressed and inked the edges of my card base and

tore the edges of the background paper before adhering to the base.

I had a chipboard frame which I painted

and glued on top of the stenciling.

Paper roses were added next, along with some twine.

I added some word stickers and sequins to finish.
