The largest-ever trial in the history of the Vatican opened in Rome this week. A powerful former cardinal and once-close ally of Pope Francis is among the 10 defendants. They stand accused of crimes ranging from extortion and embezzlement to money laundering and abuse of office. As our Europe correspondent Orla Barry reports, some hope this case could mark a turning point for the Vatican in its efforts to clean up its murky financial record.
