Novato Fire Protection District is supported by full-time Wildfire Mitigation Specialists (WMS). All Novato's WMS are certified through the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which means they have completed NFPA training and are tested to the NPFA standard, providing for better consistency of the assessments. Defensible Space assessments are offered year-round by appointment, and are fre. Our WMS establish solid working relationships with residents year after year which helps support good communication and future follow through. They are also very involved in connecting residents to all our available resources.
