19th Conference on Mountain Meteorology Call for Papers

The program committee for this conference seeked contributions on all aspects of mountain meteorology, including but not limited to:

  • Dynamics and physics of orographic clouds and precipitation
  • Boundary layers and turbulence in complex terrain
  • Diurnal mountain winds and cold-air pools
  • Mountain waves and airflow dynamics
  • Mountain hydrology and ecology
  • The mountain cryosphere (snowpack, glaciers, avalanches)
  • Climate change and variability over complex terrain
  • Numerical weather prediction, data assimilation, and forecasting in complex terrain
  • Applications of mountain meteorology (e.g. air quality, fire dynamics, wind resource assessment, and winter sports forecasting)
  • New or emerging topics in mountain meteorology
  • Preliminary results from recent field campaigns

A special named session was held to honor the contributions of Dr. Vanda GrubiĊĦic.

A special session on Education, Outreach, Diversity, Inclusion and Equity in Mountain Meteorology was held.

The Committee on Mountain Meteorology encouraged abstract submissions from students: Awards were given to the best student oral and poster presentations at the conference. Students indicated that they wished to be included in the competition when submitting an abstract. Two student travel awards were also available to help supplement travel expenses.

An abstract fee of $95 (payable by credit card or purchase order) was charged at the time of submission (refundable only if abstract is not accepted). The $95 abstract fee includes the submission of your abstract, the posting of your extended abstract, and the uploading and recording of your presentation that is archived on the AMS Web site.

Authors of accepted presentations were notified via e-mail by late April 2020. Instructions for formatting extended abstracts were posted on the AMS website. Extended manuscripts (file size up to 3 MB) had to be submitted electronically by 14 Aug 2020. All abstracts, extended abstracts, and presentations are available on the AMS website.
